The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has handed down a combined 12-year prison sentence to three individuals—Florenc Çapia, Alket Xhixha, and Elvin Merlika—following a split faction of the high-profile "Golden Bullet" investigation.
While the court initially sentenced each defendant to six years, the trio received a reduction to four years due to the use of a summary judgment procedure. The presiding panel consisted of judges Kujtim Vraniçi, Rudina Palloj, and Marinela Osmani.
Key Findings of the Prosecution:
- Alket Xhixha and Elvin Merlika: Found guilty of participating in a structured criminal group led by Ervis Martinaj, tasked with the attempted assassination of Indrit Dokle.
- The Testimony: The plot was exposed by collaborator of justice Nuredin Dumani, who revealed he had been offered 500,000 euros by Martinaj to carry out the contract killing.
- Florenc Çapia: Convicted for providing the means and conditions to assassinate Sokol Sanxhaktari, the son-in-law of former Elbasan Mayor Qazim Sejdini, in July 2020. The plan was never executed.
It is worth noting that Florenc Çapia is already serving a life sentence for his role as one of the masterminds behind the 2012 double murder of Gentian and Nezir Beqiri in Elbasan.
