A massive investment project spearheaded by Jared Kushner’s firm, Affinity Partners, is currently transforming the landscape of the Albanian Riviera. The project, which includes high-end developments in Sazan Island and the Zvërnec-Narta region, is estimated to be worth approximately 4 billion euros.
While the Albanian government views the project as a critical driver for economic growth, projecting a 3% to 4% increase in GDP over the next five years, it has sparked significant controversy. Local residents and environmental groups have organized protests, raising concerns over the protection of biodiversity in these sensitive coastal areas.
Beyond domestic criticism, the project has drawn intense scrutiny from neighboring countries. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has firmly defended the developments, dismissing international and domestic opposition as politically motivated interference. He emphasized that these projects are essential for elevating Albania to a new level of global tourism.
As the project progresses, it continues to highlight the shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics in the Balkans, where tourism has become a central arena for competition and influence.
