OBILIQ, Kosovo — During a campaign visit in Obiliq, the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, reaffirmed his party's commitment to transforming the nation's energy landscape. Abdixhiku announced that the implementation of a major U.S.-backed natural gas project remains a cornerstone of the LDK's national strategy.
A Strategic Energy Shift
The proposed initiative, which has been part of the LDK’s platform for some time, is viewed by the party as a critical step toward ensuring energy stability and security. By integrating American-supported gas infrastructure, the party aims to diversify Kosovo's energy mix, reducing reliance on aging coal-fired power plants.
"The U.S.-backed gas project is not just an infrastructure plan; it is a national priority that will secure our energy future and foster economic stability," stated Abdixhiku.
Moving Toward Implementation
Abdixhiku emphasized that the party has finalized the technical framework and is prepared to move toward rapid implementation if given the mandate. This project is expected to be a focal point of the LDK's broader agenda to modernize the country’s utilities and align its energy infrastructure with European standards.
