President Bajram Begaj has issued a series of official decrees aimed at restructuring Albania's diplomatic representation abroad. The move involves both the relief of several outgoing ambassadors and the appointment of new representatives to critical posts worldwide.

Key Diplomatic Shifts

Among the notable changes, Spiro Koçi has been appointed as the new resident Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This position was previously held in a non-resident capacity by Donika Hoxha, who will continue her primary duties as the resident Ambassador to Croatia.

Other significant appointments include:

  • Florian Nova: Appointed as Ambassador to Egypt (resident), with concurrent non-resident accreditation for Syria, Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan.
  • Elvira Isufi: Named Ambassador to Sweden (resident), covering Finland, Iceland, and Norway as a non-resident envoy.
  • Dastid Koreshi: Transitioning from his role at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Koreshi has been appointed as the Ambassador to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
  • Ermal Muça: Appointed as Ambassador to Japan (resident), with additional responsibilities in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Republic of Korea.

Departures

The presidential decrees also formally confirmed the conclusion of service for several high-profile diplomats. Eglantina Gjermeni has been relieved of her duties as the Ambassador to the OSCE Mission and International Organizations in Vienna, while Dastid Koreshi concludes his tenure at the Council of Europe as he moves to his new assignment in Geneva.
