Ardian Gjini, the prime ministerial candidate for the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has called for an urgent shift in the nation's political strategy, urging the country to move beyond what he describes as the "Serbian trap."
Speaking on the necessity of economic autonomy, Gjini argued that Kosovo’s national development should no longer be tethered to the political dialogue with Belgrade. He emphasized that those who integrate Serbia into Kosovo's internal decision-making processes are failing to serve the country's best interests.
Addressing security concerns, Gjini underscored the critical role of international partners. "The foot of a Serbian soldier cannot step into Kosovo as long as America is here," he declared.
He further noted that the bond between the people of Kosovo and the United States is profound and resilient, stating, "A government is too small to break the relationship between the people of Kosovo and America."
Regarding the historical context of the two nations, Gjini maintained that Serbia owes a significant moral and physical debt to Kosovo. He urged that this reality should never be forgotten, regardless of future diplomatic outcomes, and reiterated that Kosovo’s path forward must be defined by self-reliance rather than dependence on its neighbor.
