Skopje Mayor Orce Gjordjievski, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Karposh, Nedelcho Krstevski, marked the start of the reconstruction of Zagreb Street this week. The project is seen as a vital step in improving access to the Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Children (Kozle), which has long suffered from poor road conditions.

The renovation involves a complete overhaul of the roadway to ensure safer and more durable access. A key feature of the project is the construction of a 50-meter-long, 4-meter-high retaining wall, designed to stabilize the terrain and mitigate long-term structural risks.

Beyond Zagreb Street, the city is accelerating several long-stalled capital projects:

  • Ljubljana Bridge: Following successful coordination with the Conservation Center, the project has been unblocked. Construction of support walls is underway to finalize the bridge and alleviate traffic congestion.
  • Momin Potok Interchange: Work is proceeding rapidly on this critical junction, with three bridges currently under construction and significant portions of the route already paved.
  • Urban Greenery: Plans are underway for a new 70,000 m² park situated between Ilinden Boulevard and Ljubljana Street, aimed at providing a new recreational space for residents.

Mayor Gjordjievski emphasized that these efforts are part of a systematic approach to restoring urban order and development in Skopje, prioritizing projects that were previously delayed due to a lack of administrative resolve.
