In a statement released on Tuesday, SDSM spokesperson Bogdana Kuzeska accused the current administration of a "clear anti-European and anti-Western policy." The opposition argues that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and government official Ivan Stoilkoviq are actively undermining the nation's path toward European integration.
According to Kuzeska, the government is playing a "double game." She claims that while the administration publicly pledges support for EU accession, it is simultaneously deepening dependencies on China and aligning with Russian interests.
"This is not diplomacy," Kuzeska stated. "The government promises the EU with one hand, while working for other interests with the other. They do not want reforms or justice; they want isolation and an uncontrolled continuation of crime."
This criticism underscores the deep political polarization in North Macedonia. The country remains in a long-standing impasse regarding constitutional amendments required to advance its EU negotiation process, a core point of contention between the governing VMRO-DPMNE coalition and the opposition.
