Valmir Matoshi, the 22-year-old FC Thun standout, has officially made his senior international debut for the Kosovo national team. The debut took place during a friendly match against the Czech Republic this past Sunday.
Swiss media outlets, including 24heures.ch, have reported extensively on the transition. Matoshi, a former Swiss U21 international, is the latest in a series of dual-nationality players to choose Kosovo, following in the footsteps of Albian Hajdari and Leon Avdullahu.
While this decision has sparked debate within Swiss sports circles—mirroring the scrutiny faced by Hajdari and Avdullahu—the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) views Matoshi as a cornerstone for the team's future.
Matoshi’s rise to the international stage follows an impressive club campaign. In the most recent season, the midfielder made 35 appearances for FC Thun, tallying 6 goals and 4 assists, cementing his status as a rising talent in European football.
