The Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, specifically the Department for Serious Crimes, has confirmed the successful execution of an anti-drug operation that led to the seizure of approximately 26 kilograms of suspected marijuana.
Three individuals were arrested during the morning hours of June 1, 2026, after law enforcement officers discovered the illicit substances during a routine vehicle inspection. The operation involved coordinated efforts across the Zvečan and Jarinje areas.
Following their arrest, the three suspects were ordered into a 48-hour detention period by the prosecutor. They currently face charges for the "unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution, and sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and analogues."
Officials from the Mitrovica Prosecution stated that they will file a formal request for the court to impose a measure of detention on the suspects within the legal timeframe provided by law.
