Starting at midnight, drivers in North Macedonia will see a mixed landscape at fuel stations. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has confirmed that while gasoline prices will increase by 0.50 denars, diesel and extra light household oil will see a notable decrease of 6.50 denars per liter.

Following these adjustments, the maximum retail price for EUROSUPER BS-95 will reach 88.00 denars per liter, and EUROSUPER BS-98 will hit 90.00 denars per liter. Conversely, EURODIZEL will drop to 85.50 denars per liter, providing some relief for commercial and heavy-vehicle transport.

In a parallel move, the oil company OKTA has announced a temporary two-denar discount on gasoline at all of its stations, valid from June 2 to June 16, 2026. This decision comes as the result of international fuel market movements and ongoing coordination with the national government.

Fiscal and Global Context

The government also enacted an emergency decision to restore the VAT on gasoline from 10% back to 18%, citing that the drop in global fuel prices has sufficiently stabilized the domestic market. However, the future of these prices remains uncertain.

Global crude oil prices have surged by more than 3%, nearing $94 per barrel today, following a fresh exchange of hostilities between the United States and Iran. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued warnings that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to place immense pressure on less-developed economies, particularly regarding energy security.
