Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj has publicly criticized recent interventions from Greece concerning the contentious development project in Zvërnec, arguing that these actions are motivated by political opportunism.

Speaking on the "Ora e Fundit" program on ABC News, Mahmutaj stated that the reactions from the Greek side do not stem from a desire to protect the rights of protesters or the integrity of the Albanian territory. Instead, he characterized these diplomatic moves as a deliberate effort to benefit from the ongoing domestic friction.

"The Greeks intervene to claim credit and to pour fuel on the fire," Mahmutaj remarked. "Every intervention coming from the Greeks is pure malice toward Albanians. They have no good intentions or benevolence toward the causes of the Albanian protesters."

According to Mahmutaj, the Greek government is not interested in the welfare of the people or the protection of land. Rather, he asserts that they are attempting to "reap the fruits" of the current chaos, noting that Greek actors consistently seek to capitalize on any turbulent situation within Albania, regardless of the underlying cause.
