The City of Skopje has officially announced that aerial disinfection targeting adult mosquitoes will take place on June 1 and 2, 2026. The operation is designed to reduce mosquito populations across the entire metropolitan area.
Authorities have stated that the spraying will be conducted during the early morning hours to maximize effectiveness. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, such as high winds or rain, the operation will be postponed to the following day when conditions are more suitable.
Local authorities have issued a specific advisory to beekeepers in the region. They are urged to take all necessary precautions to protect their hives during this period, as the chemicals used in the disinfection process may pose a risk to bee colonies.
