The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKShPK) has confirmed a total of 25 cases of measles in the country between April 16 and June 1, 2026. The latest data indicates that five new cases were recorded during the final week of May.

Geographic Distribution Health officials have identified cases across several municipalities, highlighting the spread of the virus. The distribution is as follows:

  • Ferizaj: 8 cases
  • Prishtina: 6 cases
  • Kaçanik: 5 cases
  • Other areas: Single cases in Deçan, Fushë Kosovë, Gjilan, Lipjan, Obiliq, and Shtime.

Public Health Directive Given the high contagiousness of measles, the IKShPK has issued a firm call to action for citizens. Residents are advised to seek immediate medical attention if they or their children display symptoms such as high fever, skin rashes, cough, or runny nose.

"Vaccination remains the most effective and safe measure for preventing measles, protecting the unvaccinated, and preserving public health," the institute stated in an official announcement. Parents and caregivers are urged to verify their children’s vaccination status and ensure they are immunized according to the regular national schedule at their local family medicine centers.
