Valmir Matoshi has officially marked his transition to international football, making his debut for the Kosovo national team during a recent friendly match against the Czech Republic. The 22-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for FC Thun, has officially committed his international future to the 'Dardans'.

Swiss media outlets, including 24heures.ch, have closely followed Matoshi's decision. His move has drawn comparisons to fellow players Albian Hajdari and Leon Avdullahu, who also opted to represent Kosovo over Switzerland. These choices have triggered significant discourse within the Swiss sports press, which has scrutinized the departure of these talents from the Swiss national development pipeline.

Despite the controversy, the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) views Matoshi as a cornerstone for the team's future. The young talent is coming off a strong campaign with FC Thun, where he recorded 6 goals and 4 assists across 35 appearances in the 2024/2025 season.

With his debut now behind him, Matoshi is expected to become a regular fixture in the Kosovo squad, providing a fresh injection of energy and skill to the midfield.
